As a sophomore during my time at Boston University, I took a class titled "EK210-Introduction to Engineering Design". This was one of the first engineering courses I would take in college, hence it focused on the basic principles of the design process. This was a heavily project based class; the goal was to walk through making a product from concept to a final product in order to understand and practice the engineering design process. I worked on a team of different types of engineering students (mechanical, electrical, computer and biomedical) in order to build something that would solve the product of a client. All the while we had to generate proposals, manage a budget, work under time and scenario constraints. This allowed me to again use the multi-million dollar maker space, EPIC (Engineering Product Innovation Center), on campus to design and fabricate a final product. By the end of the class, we had a working product.
